Forge's built-in Market Analysis template is a good starting point, but a custom team lets you pick exactly the right agents, set a focused mission, and configure web search tools to pull live data. This guide walks through building a market research team from scratch.
Step 1: Create the team
Go to Teams → Create team. Give the team a name like "Market Research" and write the mission statement. The mission is injected into every agent's context, so be specific:
Produce a comprehensive market research report for entry into a new geography, covering competitive landscape, market sizing, regulatory requirements, and a go-to-market strategy suitable for a B2B SaaS company.
Step 2: Add agents in order
Add these agents in order. Each one builds on the previous agent's output:
- Market Researcher — gathers raw market data, size, and trends
- Persona Builder — defines target customer segments and ICPs
- Competitor Analyser — maps the competitive landscape with positioning
- Feature Prioritiser — identifies gaps and opportunities in the market
- PRD Writer — produces the final synthesised report and recommendations
Step 3: Write per-agent instructions
Click the pencil icon on the Market Researcher agent. Write focused instructions:
Focus on the European B2B SaaS market. Use EUR for all financial figures. Prioritise data from the last 12 months. Include competitor pricing where available. Identify the top 5 competitors by market share. Flag any GDPR implications for data handling.
Step 4: Add a web search tool
On the Market Researcher agent, click Add Tool → Web Search. Name it "Market Data Search". Set the query:
{{agent.title}} European B2B SaaS market size 2025 competitor analysisThe {{agent.title}} variable is replaced with your run title at runtime, making each search specific to what you're researching.
Step 5: Run the team
Save the team. Click Use Team and write your brief. Example: "Research the market opportunity for a B2B SaaS project management tool in the Nordic region. Focus on the construction and engineering sector." Submit and watch the pipeline run.
